OPM

フィリピンのポップスはOPM (Original Philippine Music) と呼ばれ、日本人が聞いても素晴らしいと思える歌手や楽曲も多くあります。

その中で私のお気に入りを何回かに分けてご紹介します。

Be My Lady - Martin Nievera

『コンサートキング』の異名を持つ大御所マーティン・ニベラの代表曲の1つ。
フィリピンの多くの歌手と同様に俳優としても活動しています。
マーティンの曲の中にはOPMを聞いたり歌ったりする人にはお馴染みの曲が他にも多数有り、いずれまた紹介したいと思います。

現在フィリピンで最も人気のある女性歌手サラ・ヘロニモのデビューアルバムに収められたヒット曲。
フィリピンに旅行してホテルで現地のTVを見ていると、サラの出演しているCMの多さから、正統派アイドルとしての支持層の広さがうかがえます。
14歳の時GMAのオーディション番組 "Star For A Night" でグランドチャンピオンになり、レコードデビュー前からアイドルの座を約束されていた強運の持ち主でもあります。

この曲を含め多くのオリジナル曲が多数のOPMアーティストによってカバーされています。

あらゆるタイプの曲を歌いこなす抜群の歌唱力を持ち、アメリカのTV番組で共演したマライア・キャリーがレジンの歌声に危機感を抱いたと言われるほどです。
管理人が最も好きなOPM歌手で、今後もレジンの曲はいろいろ紹介したいと思います。
